Principal's Message

Greetings VMS Community!

It is with great honor that we welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year. We are looking forward to having our students with us on campus beginning August 1, 2023.

Valencia Middle School is committed to providing each of our students with rigorous academics in a caring and respectful environment. It is expected that parents, guardians, and students familiarize themselves with the Valencia Middle School student handbook as well as the LL Schools District Student handbook.

There are some changes you will see at VMS for the 23-24 school year. Our football field and track have been updated with new bleacher seating. Our weight room has been remodeled and we have added new weights, weight machines, and new flooring. Sensory rooms for our students and staff are ready for use. We have added several new elective courses and courses providing support for our students that are English Language Learners will be done through English classes. Our ELA teachers have been working to complete online modules/professional development that will allow them to provide these supports. We will continue our after-school programs and will keep you updated on classes that students will be able to participate in as well as the start date for these programs.

There will be ongoing school construction projects this year. When you visit our campus, you might see some of the projects that are being worked on. We are excited to have projects that will update our facilities and jazz up our look.

You will see new faces on our staff, and we are so excited to welcome these staff members to our Jag family!

We strongly encourage students that are eligible to ride the bus to please do so. One of our focus areas this year will be on time, daily attendance. Students who do not ride the bus and are late for school will need to be checked in at the office by a parent. We understand that this might seem inconvenient, but we are doing this for safety reasons.

We look forward to a continued partnership with students, parents, and staff for a fabulous school year and appreciate you continued support. Thank you for trusting Valencia Middle School with your student(s) and we are so happy to have them here.

Sincerely,

Joann Carter, Principal
